I'm considering breast surgery, but I'm worried about the scarring afterward. How much scarring will there be after breast surgery? Also, how should I manage the scar after surgery?

Many people are worried about scars after breast surgery.
When performing breast surgery, the incisions are made in the armpit and under the breast.
The armpit incision is made in the armpit crease, so the scar will look like the armpit crease as it heals, which has the advantage of less scarring.

The inframammary incision is a 3 to 5 centimeter incision at the bottom of the breast to insert the implant.
The incision is hidden at the bottom of the breast line, so it is almost invisible unless you lift your chest.

In addition, we provide scar management such as scar injections, scar ointments, and scar lasers depending on the scar condition and recovery after surgery.
Therefore, you should not worry too much as long as you continue to follow the hospital’s instructions after surgery.

For many, one of the most significant concerns is potential scarring.

Breast Surgery Scarring Do's and Don'ts

Breast-Augmentation-Scars

Every surgical procedure will create some scarring — it’s the simple truth. However, there are things you can do as a patient to minimize the visibility of scarring.

Breast augmentation surgery has the lowest risk of visible scarring due to the nature of the procedure. Since your board-certified plastic surgeon is not removing or maneuvering excess tissue, it does not require lengthy incisions.

DO'S

Use topical scar treatments, such as vitamin E oil or organic oil, to soften scar tissue.
Massage the area to break up scar tissue after healing.
Be patient-most scars fade with time.

DON'T

Expose your scars to the sun without sunscreen. This can increase pigmentation.
Ignore your surgeon’s post-operative instructions, especially restrictions on movement. Excessive tension and stress on the incision site can cause the incision to split and widen, so be very careful with your surgical site, even if you’re feeling better.
Smoking. Nicotine use can constrict blood vessels and slow healing.
